Brilliant, exciting how Modern Salon's Website has become!

Trevor:  Welcome to Modern Salon TV, I’m Trevor Dineen.

Kat:  And I’m Kat Penfold.  In just 2 episodes we’ve taken you behind the scenes with designers and stylists at fashion week, with contestants on Shear Genius; even with Tabatha Coffey.

Trevor:  In this episode, we take you on a trip to New York City with Ted Gibson for a tour through his upscale salon.

Kat:  In Beauty Buzz, we check out Ken Paves’ new show with Jessica Simpson.

Trevor: and we cover the Oscars, where stylists recreate their favorite red carpet looks.

Announcer:  This episode of Modern Salon TV is sponsored by America’s beauty show, March 27th through 29th at McCormick Place, in Chicago.

Kat:  Now with Modern Reports here is Maggie Mullhern.

Maggie:  Okay, I’m here with the man himself, Mr. Ted Gibson, thank you for granting us this tour.

Ted:  Anytime that I can talk to you, it made my day.

Maggie:  This is great because it’s in the middle of fashion week and Ted has taken a moment out to come down take care of some clients for how much?

Ted:  $950.

Maggie:  That’s so normal.

Ted:  My New York City salon has 14 stations, it’s an upscale environment but with no attitude and that’s what we really think is really fantastic.  And what you’ll notice is that when we walk around the salon, that the salon is multicultural. You have white women sitting next to black women sitting next to Asian women sitting next to a celebrity, sitting next to, so that’s what we offer here at Ted Gibson New York City.

As you look around the salon, this is one of the best Saturdays always; we love to have Saturdays in the salon. Everyone wears pink or chocolate, its part of the branding of the brand at Ted Gibson, which we think is really important. So welcome to L’OREAL INOA. Here in our salon we have 2 shampoo rooms, this is one shampoo room of course crystal chandeliers are my favorite thing in the world, I have them in my house as well.

I would love to show you some of my products. So we carry L’Oreal Professionnel and we also carry Ted Gibson, take a little Ted Gibson home with you.

Announcer 2:  America’s beauty show is the one place to see, feel, hear, taste and touch the future of beauty.  America’s beauty show, bringing beauty to life

Trevor:  As the newly appointed Fashion Director of Intercoiffure America / Canada, Vivienne Mackinder released her new collection American in Paris, let’s take a look.

Vivian:  As fashion deeps into nostalgic past, celebrating glamorous romantic looks of the 30s and 40s, one thing comes to mind; in order to be irreplaceable one must always be different. With so many women wearing long hair, I use this as a theme to show how to create alternative looks, creating faux bobs and the illusion of short hair cuts with long hair.  (music)

Kat:  We go now to Modern Salon TV reporter Melissa Hill, who challenges stylists to recreate celebrity looks, seen at the Oscars.

Announcer 3:  This segment of Modern Salon TV is brought to you by Hairdreams; Visit Hairdreams at ABS to experience a new revolution in hair extension systems

Melissa:  Hi I’m Melissa Hill with Modern Salon and I am here at Woody Michleb Salon with Bela Xhelaj who is the Manager and we are recreating some… well they, are creating some of the styles from this year’s Oscars.

Bela: The style is Charlize Theron.

Adam:  Carey Mulligan.

Angela:  Sandra Bullock style.

Bela: The style is Charlize Theron, we just slicked it all the way down to the back in a ponytail first and then we get pieces of hair, which you make sure that you comb them out properly. You hair spray them, and then you flat iron them, and that is going to give you that strong hold. So you could bend the hair.  However you want it to bend and you will create that curve that you wanted to create.

Melissa:  So tell me a little bit about what you did with your model.

Adam:  To create the Carey Mulligan look I simply used to texturizing paste then I start with firm hold hair spray and some shine spray. With a short hair model you’d like to create a point of interest with her, she’s got this flaming red hair in front of her hair so I don’t want to take away from that and make her hair speak too loudly.

The bangs are a little bit longer than Carey Mulligan had and she has a bit of a full hair French so it was interesting to recreate that look in the front but the rest of it was pretty close.

Angela:  We are actually recreating the Sandra Bullock’s style for Oscars last year, which is just a basic blow drying and you have to go into it with your curling iron or your flatiron. It’s not so much of a tight hold as close to these curls.

Because she made a really big hit at the Oscars, everyone seems to love Sandra Bullock’s hair so it’s whether you feel it’s for you to.

Trevor:  Senior Editor Alison Shipley is almost done with phase 1 of beauty school at Pivot Point International. Now Alison takes us back into the classroom.

Alison:  Hey guys its Alison and we are all done with color theory now and wow we have learned so much.  From all-over color and gray reduction to a full head of highlights and lowlights, I have 100% fallen in love with color. Here is a pic of me after I did my first foil ever.  I was so excited my friend Mena even let me do her color touch up and my hands were shaking like crazy, I was so nervous I was going to mess it up but luckily she turned out okay, and while I’m still a beginner at color I think I may have found a new passion.

Alison: Pivot Point!

Students:  Go color!

Kat:  It seems more than ever stylists are the stars of TV. There’s Shear Genius, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, Nick Arrojo on his newly launched reality show, the list goes on. Now Ken Paves makes his mark with VH1’s new Price of Beauty with Jessica Simpson.  We find out more.

Jessica:  There is a lot of pressure to feel beautiful but what defines beauty? I’m going to travel the world and see what makes a woman in different cultures feel beautiful. I am going with my friends Ken and Casey.

Female speaker 3:  Fat is beautiful.

Jessica:  Wow.

Ken:  Yeah.

Jessica:  Every single person that I have met I can relate to.

Female speaker 3:  Jessica Simpson’s ‘The Price of Beauty’ premieres Monday March 15th at 10.00 on the VH1.

Kat:  Thanks for tuning in.  As always, we’ll leave you with some of your favorite industry icons.

Trevor:  Don’t forget to pre book your appointment with Modern Salon TV.

Kat:  See you in 2 weeks and of course at America’s Beauty Show in Chicago.

Babek:  Is anybody there? Hey, I’m Babek and you are watching Modern Salon TV.

Beth:  Hi it’s Beth Minardi from New York City and I am on fire because Modern Salon TV is hot.

Jan:  My name is Jan Arnold and I love watching Modern Salon TV.

Lois:  I’m Lois Christie president of Intercoiffure America/Canada and I’m watching Modern Salon TV.
